In order to detect when something is up, you will need to pay close attention to the daily occurrences and patterns. The color, consistency, and frequency are all important factors. Any sudden changes or inconsistency with their bowel movements may indicate illness. However, just making mental or written notes is usually enough. No samples are needed unless requested by your pediatrician.
