Engaging in sex can trigger a miscarriage
This is one of those miscarriage myths that end up scaring some women into abstinence. Sex during pregnancy, including the early and later months, is absolutely okay, as long as the mother is healthy and okay.
Women should use sanitary pads rather than tampons when going through a miscarriage
Using pads reduces the risks of developing an infection, as well as giving a more accurate indicator of blood loss. For example, if a woman is having to change their pad on an hourly basis, a trip to the emergency department may be a good idea.
Lifting a small child or toddler can trigger a miscarriage
This is another one of those miscarriage myths that people pass on as a fact. Bending down to lift a child does not in any way cause a woman to miscarry. Meaning it’s safe to carry around children, or at least until it becomes a physical impossibility.
A four-month-old baby is too young to enjoy playing with toys.
A four-month-old baby should recognize toys, particularly ones that rattle, make fun noises, or are bright in color. They may reach for toys, shake toys, or swing at dangling toys.
Nine months old is too young for a baby to begin to pick up something with his thumb and forefinger.
By nine months a baby’s hand muscles and motor skills should allow them to pick up something small and light, such as a piece of cereal or small toy, between their thumb and forefinger.
What temperature indicates your newborn baby needs to see a doctor?
A)
Anything above normal (about 37C/98.6F)
C)
Anything over 40C/104F
D)
Anything that lasts longer than 2 or 3 days
In a newborn baby, even a slight fever may indicate an infection. Since your baby’s immune system is not developed, they may need medical attention to fight even the slightest illness. A physician should examine a newborn with any degree of fever.
