Sudden or extreme swelling or weight gain in early pregnancy could be a sign of preeclampsia.
Your hands or feet swell suddenly or you rapidly gain weight — it may be preeclampsia.
Ovulation testing detects an increase in Progesterone production before ovulation.
An over-the-counter ovulation prediction kit — a test that you can perform at home — detects the surge in luteinizing hormone (LH) that occurs before ovulation.
Which is not a possible treatment for male infertility?
C)
Ovarian hyperstimulation
Antibiotic treatment may cure an infection of the reproductive tract, but doesn't always restore fertility. Your doctor may recommend hormone replacement or medication in cases where infertility is caused by high or low levels of certain hormones or problems with the way the body uses hormones. A varicocele can often be surgically corrected or an obstructed vas deferens repaired.
Hyperprolactinemia, excessive prolactin (the hormone that stimulates breast milk) production, only affects female fertility.
Hyperprolactinemia causes infertility in around 11% of oligospermic males. Hyperprolactinemia also directly influences spermatogenesis and steroidogenesis by acting on prolactin receptors present in Sertoli cells and Leydig cells in testes, and produces primary hypogonadism and infertility.
Which is not a possible cause of Hypothalamic amenorrhea?
Some medications (e.g. phenothiazines) as well as extremes of weight loss, stress or exercise can cause this type of secondary amenorrhea. A pituitary or hypothalamic tumor would be a rare finding in these patients who were all screened with prolactin levels at the beginning of the diagnostic evaluation. However, if there is no cause apparent from the history, it is sometimes suggested to get a baseline CT or MRI scan of the sellar region to rule out a (very rare) tumor.
